Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way for your body to say, “Hey! Slow down! I can’t keep up with what you want!” Oh wait, there is. It’s called getting sick.
I’m really bummed that I’ve spent the last 24+ hours sleeping. Not only am I bummed because being sick is just no fun, I’m bummed because today was my day off. I had big plans for today that included lounging, productivity (contradictory? maybe), brunch, working out, and enjoying Summer. Guess what happened? None of those.
I’m still trying to figure out what I did to upset my body – but sometimes it’s just out of my control. There was a sudden weather change this week, from beautiful and sunny to yucky and rainy. That could have done it. Or it could have been my intense training this week in conjunction with my monthly visitor. All kinds of things could be contributing. Note to self: don’t work out so hard on this week of the month.
So here I am, laying in bed and begging my body to win. I’m forcing myself to eat frequently to maintain energy, taking cold medicine to make my slumber more effective, and downing Emergen C and Electrolytes like it’s my job. Summer Cold, you will not win!
I guess I’m headed off to bed for another nap – this weekend is a doozy. Long Monster shift on Saturday, and Warrior Dash on Sunday!
